My Story

As a young child I spent around 10 hours per day watching television.   My parents were foreign, and my siblings were much older, so putting a television in my room was a quick solution to babysitting.  It worked, I was glued, and our house become slightly more peaceful.  I watched whatever I wanted.  Mostly cartoons, but also a lot of MTV, movies, and music videos late in to the night.  It taught me about American culture and subsequently gave me a natural feel for film making. I memorized all the lyrics to “Gangster’s Paradise” at the age of 12.

In my early teens I would start to create my first videos while grounded in my room.  I would sneak my parents video recorder into my room and create short films using my stuffed animals as talent.  Everyone seemed to enjoy them.  This led to later shooting skateboarding videos with my friends in high school.  My friend’s parents would then pay me to edit their children’s school projects and home videos through iMovie.  Videos and editing seem to come naturally to me and I became well known around school for my work.  My senior project would end up receiving a Good Merit award at the Cupertino film festival in 2005.

During college, a friend and I would spend our free time shooting action videos.  I worked for various tech companies, including Facebook, shooting videos internally and for promotional purposes.  Randi Zuckerberg took me under her wing and had me help make videos for her personal side projects due to my scrappiness, humor, and low budget capabilities.

After college, I took a risk and moved down to LA in hopes of landing a dream job at a motorsport video production company.  I landed the gig and started assisting production of videos for Donut Media in and out of the office.  One day, I decided to create my own videos to upload to our channel.  This lead to weekly videos which eventually started to go viral.

These videos became successful because I learned how to take advantage of fair use laws and the wild west nature of Facebook’s platform when they first started hosting videos. These videos exponentially grow our follower base.  They were extremely low cost and very effective.  This essentially changed the entire landscape of the company.  In the course of 2 years, my videos received over 180 million views across Facebook and YouTube. Donut Media would go on to use this method to land them 5 million subscribers on YouTube today.

After Donut, I moved to Germany to produce videos for Fanatec, a sim racing hardware company.  Fanatec is second most diverse company in Germany, with over 26 different nationalities employed. This exposed me to a wide variety of different cultures.  We all came from different places, but we all shared the same passion for motorsports and racing.  It was a life changing experience and one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I returned to the US just before COVID hit.  The film industry in LA pretty much came to a halt.  I took this as an opportunity to move back to Northern California and take some time for self reflection and improvement.  I read lots of phycology material, and worked on my physical and mental health.  This gave me a deeper understanding of myself, more comfort in my own shoes, and better tools for effective communication and team working.

Since 2021, I have been helping my father at our family German car repair shop.  Using the experience to help improve customer communication skills and hone back in on technical repair skills that are useful in everyday life.  My wide variety of life experiences, self growth, and natural talent gives me an edge against the competition.  I’m looking forward to seeing where my career will take me.  I’m focused on working hard to take my life to the next level.
